LOWELL, Mass. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team dropped a five-set decision to Quinnipiac on Sunday at Costello Athletic Center. The set scores were 25-18, 23-25, 19-25, 25-20 and 15-17.
With the loss, the River Hawks drop to 4-19 overall on the season, while the Bobcats upped their record to 3-20 overall.
Freshman outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) posted a team-high 16 kills for the River Hawks in the loss. Co-Captain
Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) and freshman middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) each amassed 13 kills, while Arnason also added 12 digs and Adeniyi registered six blocks. Junior right side hitter
Elima Ahzi (Chula Vista, Calif.) also had a solid match with seven kills and six total blocks.
Junior setter
Alexa Toth (Portland, Ore.) started the match running the River Hawks' offense and finished with 21 assists, while freshman
Delaney Mendez (Phoenix, Ariz.) posted 30 assists in the non-conference match up.
Freshman libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) turned in a 22-dig effort in the losing effort against the Bobcats.
UMass Lowell came out firing in the opening set with 15 kills and a .282 hitting percentage
The River Hawks return to action next weekend with a pair of America East road matches. UMass Lowell will face Stony Brook on Friday, October 30th (7pm) and wrap up the weekend at UMBC on Sunday, November 1st (1pm).
