TUXEDO PARK, N.Y. – The River Hawks closed out the final round of the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational the Tuxedo Club on Saturday, finishing ninth overall in the tournament.
 
UMass Lowell finished with a three-round score of 962. The hosting Columbia University finished in first with a score of 905, followed by Hofstra in the runner-up spot with 913. Lehigh University finished in third place with a score of 924, followed closely by Central Connecticut State (925) and Lafayette College (926) to round out the top five.
 
Sophomore Joe Vanaman (Nottingham, England) led the UMass Lowell squad with a three-round score of 238. Senior Dan Hinckley (Dracut, Mass.) closely followed his teammate at 239. _­Freshman Jimmy Walmsley (Pepperell, Mass.) ended the tournament at 242, while fellow freshman Eric Byrne (Derry, N.H.) finished closely behind at 245. Sophomore Ryan Paris (Haverhill, Mass.) ended the invitational at 256.
 
Both Walmsley and Byrne competed in their first collegiate event at the Tuxedo Autumn Invitational. This was also the first tournament of the season for all five River Hawks who competed.
 
The River Hawks will be back in action on Sunday, October 5^th when they will compete in the Binghamton University Fall Golf Invitational at the Hiawatha Landing Golf Course in Apalachin, N.Y.
