Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) shot 79-73-83—235 to lead the River Hawks golf team at the St. James Plantation Invite Friday and Saturday at The Founders Club in Southport, N.C.
UMass Lowell finished 13
th out of 16 teams with a combined score of 977. They shot rounds of 327, 316 and 334. Adelphi University captured the team title with scores of 298-302-300—900, while California University of Pennsylvania and St. Thomas Aquinas both placed second. The Vulcan's finished with rounds of 311-307-299—917 and Spartan's had rounds of 307-306-304--917.
Hulme finished 33rd out of 101 participants. The tournament drew 16 schools.
Junior
Dan Hinckley (Dracut, Mass.) shot rounds of 79-80-85—244 to finish T-54. Freshman
Jonathan Burgin (Hampshire, England) tied for 61
st shooting 82-80-87—249. Finishing tied for 73, sophomore
Jake Hulme (Methuen, Mass.) shot 87-88-79—254. Rounding out the River Hawks was senior
Justin Barbera (Milton, Mass.) who finished 97
th. He shot rounds of 95-83-90—268.
Louis Kelly of Adelphi won medalist honors with 65-74-72—211 beating Zack Kempa of Indian University of Pennsylvania (76-72-73—221).
The River Hawks will tee off in the three-day Peter King Memorial Tournament beginning on Thursday, March. 27, at the Rockhill Country Club in Manorville, N.Y.
