Box Score (.PDF)STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell women's volleyball team fell to conference foe Stony Brook, 3-0 (9-25, 18-25, 10-25) in America East play on Sunday afternoon at Pritchard Gymnasium.
With the loss, the River Hawks fall to 2-21 overall (0-6 AE), while the Seawolves improve to 12-10 overall (3-3 AE).
Senior outside hitter
Ella Merrill (Bermuda Dunes, Calif.) led the River Hawks' offense with seven kills in the losing effort. Three other UMass Lowell players finished the day with four kills apiece, including
Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.),
Lisa Tuggle (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and
Masha Yelsukova (Santa Clara, Calif.). Bennett finished the match with a team-high .375 hitting percentage.
Junior setter
Kylee Chun (Las Vegas, Nevada) recorded 21 assists and four digs running the UMass Lowell offensive attack. Senior libero
Hannah Rey (San Diego, Calif.) had 14 digs to lead the River Hawks defensive unit.
The River Hawks recorded a match-high 11 kills in the second set, after registering only six kills in the first and third frames.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Sunday, October 26th at home on Homecoming Weekend against UMBC. Match time is 1 p.m. at Costello Athletic Center in Lowell, Mass.
