APALACHIN, N.Y. (Oct. 7, 2013) – Sophomore
Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) and senior
Takeagi Igarashi (Sacramento, Calif.) each shot rounds of two-over 74 to lead the UMass Lowell golf team at the Binghamton University Fall Invitational Sunday at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.
UMass Lowell compiled a team score of 314 to place in a tie for 11
th. Laval University of Quebec won the team title with a 276 to edge Fairleigh Dickinson (280), the host Bearcats (283), Canisius (296) and Rider (297).
The Invitational was limited to Sunday's round only due to torrential rains on Monday.
Individually, Hulme and Igarashi placed in a tie for 20
th in the field of 71. The mark was career-low for Igarashi, who was making his first appearance of the year.
Senior
Justin Barbera (Milton, Mass.) and sophomore
Ian Gervais (New Limerick, Maine) placed in a tie for 64
th with an 83. Freshman
Joe Vanaman (Nottingham, England) placed 70
th with an 86.
Ujo Coussaud of Laval earned medalist honors with a six-under 66. Teammate Samuel Rochette was the runner-up with a four-under 68.
UMass Lowell enters the University of Connecticut Cup Monday and Tuesday at Ellington Ridge Country Club.
