BREWSTER, Mass. (Oct. 27, 2013) – Sophomore
Harry Hulme (Manchester, England) shot a three-over-par 75 to lead UMass Lowell to a share of 10
th place after round one of the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at The Captains Golf Course.
UMass Lowell, the defending NEIGA champion, compiled a score of 312 as it shares 10
th place with the University of New Hampshire and Elms College. Central Connecticut State sits atop the leaderboard with a score of 288 while the University of Rhode Island is the runner-up with a 297. Bryant (298), Western New England (300) and Providence College (303) rounded out the top five.
Wagner (306) sits in sixth and is followed by Bentley (308) and Southern Maine (308) and Husson College (311).
Hulme, who earned medalist honors last year at the NEIGA Championship, currently sits in a tie for 19
th but only five strokes behind Sunday's leader Monte Mullen of Central Connecticut, who fired a two-under 70.
Freshman
Jonny Burgin (Nottingham, England) and senior
Andrew Fecteau (Newbury, Mass.) sit in a tie for 37
th, each with a 77. Senior
Justin Barbera (Milton, Mass.) and junior
Kevin Fay (Lawrence, Mass.) carded rounds of 83 and stand in a tie for 110
th.
The Tournament, which drew 189 players representing 38 colleges, continues Monday.
