River Hawks visit No. 16 AIC Saturday

Senior M Laura Muise scored the lone goal in the 26^th minute to lead Bentley University over UMass Lowell, 1-0, Wednesday afternoon in a Northeast-10 Conference women's soccer clash in Waltham, Mass.

With the loss, UMass Lowell slipped to 4-6-2 overall and 3-6-1 in the NE-10 entering Saturday's match at No. 16 American International College.

Bentley improved to 4-6-2 overall and 2-6-2 in the Conference.

UMass Lowell outshot Bentley 13-8 overall and 8-3 on frame, but was unable to convert.

Bentley took the lead when Muise picked up a loose ball from 18 yards out and finished into the top left corner of the goal.

UMass Lowell came back with chances by freshman M Selja Snorradottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) and senior B Taylor Hartmann (Feeding Hills, Mass.), before the interval, but sophomore GK Christiana Hynds stopped both attempts.

“Taylor was at the heart of every good chance we created,” said head coach Elie Monteiro. “In the second half, worked the ball wide a number of times and Taylor served low to far post, but unfortunately no one as there. We had success getting down the right side on them, but we didn't finish. It wasn't the prettiest game of soccer, but we did get some chances.”

Junior GK Jill Carlson (Lexington, Mass.) stopped two shots while Hynds had eight saves.
