After scoring his first two goals as a River Hawk in Friday night's 4-0 win against Merrimack, graduate student Jay Ahearn (Staten Island, N.Y.) of the UMass Lowell ice hockey team has been named the River Hawk of the Week.

Ahearn was named the lone captain of the River Hawks prior to the season after transferring from Niagara, and was impressive in his UMass Lowell debut. He scored his first goal in the second period to give the squad a 3-0 lead, before burying his second of the game early in the third period to help lift the team to the win.
