UMass Lowell baseball senior outfielder Joe Consolmagno (Worcester, Mass.) was named the River Hawk of Week, following his performance in the team's five games from March 16-20.Â
Throughout the week, Consolmagno batted .625 (10-16) with an on-base percentage of .700 and slugging percentage of .750, recording three multi-hit games, two of which he boasted three hits in. He drove in two RBI and scored six runs, and added three stolen bases, as well.
In the second game against NYIT, Consolmagno went 3-for-3 with a triple, one RBI and one run scored. He followed up that effort with another 3-for-3 effort in the third game, scoring two runs and driving in one.Â
The right fielder also had a steller weekend, recording two putouts and one assist. In game one of the NYIT series, Consolmagno made a diving catch and threw out a runner trying to advance to third from first.Â
Consolmagno leads the squad with a .412 average, ranking second in the conferece, and has 21 hits. He has driven in five RBI and is tied for first on the team with eight stolen bases.Â
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
The River Hawks enter this week at 8-7 overall and will take on Holy Cross in a mid-week matchup on March 23. The squad stays on the road to open its America East slate with three games at UMBC from March 26-27.
