Senior forward Lindsey Doucette (Hopkinton, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell women's basketball team has been named River Hawk of the Week, the second award for the team this season.
Doucette recorded her fifth double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the River Hawks' 84-58 loss at Massachusetts on December 30. The senior has now registered 10 or more points in eight consecutive games. In her UMass Lowell career, Doucette has 16 career double-doubles and has snagged at least one rebound in 74-straight games.Â
So far this season, Doucette is leading the team with 13.9 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. She also leads the sqaud with 15 steals and eight blocks, as well as ranking second in the league in overall rebounding and defensive rebounding.Â
The "River Hawk of the Week" is chosen each week in voting by the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications staff. It honors the top athlete, male or female, based on performance during the previous week of competition.
UMass Lowell opens up its third season of America East play with a road game at Hartford on Jan. 6 at 7 p.m.
