Biography

HERENDA ON TAVARES-TAYLOR: "Scotty is back from a very difficult year last year. We lost him to an ACL injury and he has worked so hard to get back into arguably the best shape of his life. He spent countless hours rehabbing his knee and strenghtening the rest of his body. As a freshman he led us to a Northeast-10 Championship and his fire is now burning to do more. Scotty is very quick and can also shoot the ball from deep. He and Akeem will finally be able to play together this year and it will be very interesting to see them play together."

AS A JUNIOR: Appeared in 29 games with 23 starts • Averaged 6.7 points, 3.1 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.4 steals per-a-game • Had a season-high 20 points in a 74-60 win over Pace (1/14) • Snatched eight rebounds in a 68-66 win over Merrimack (12/3).

AS A SOPHOMORE:
Redshirted sophomore season • Started the first three games before suffering a season ending injury • Was averaging 16.0 PPG and 3.3 RPG.

AS A FRESHMAN: Named to the Northeast-10 All-Tournament Team • One of three River Hawks that saw action in all 32 games on the year, earning a starting spot in six games by season's end • Averaged 6.5 PPG, 1.5 RPG and shot .452 from the floor with a .384 mark from long range • Showed incredible poise during the NE-10 Tournament, tallying his season-best 19 points in the Conference Championship game against Adelphi • Sank five 3FG at Franklin Pierce in the final regular season game, as well.

TILTON SCHOOL: Played a postgraduate year at the Tilton School for coach Marcus O'Neil • Led the Tilton School to a 29-2 record and the National Prep School Championship as well as the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Class 'B' Championship • Played alongside University of Connecticut freshmen Alex Oriakhi and Jamal Coombs-McDaniel • Posted averages of 11.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting .360 from 3-point range and .850 from the free throw line.

PERSONAL: One of three children of Davida Taylor • Lists Boston Celtics as favorite team • Names Isaiah Thomas and Chris Paul as influences • Says winning a National Prep School Championship while at Tilton during the 2008-09 season was his greatest sports moment • Aspires to play professionally overseas after graduation and to own his own company • Knows American Sign Language.
