2/23/2026 2:00:00 PM

BOSTON – After a pair of impressive performances in the team's 16-7 victory this past week, UMass Lowell men's lacrosse's junior Jackson Schlicker (Portland, Ore.) was named the America East Defensive Player of the Week, while junior Justin Alexander (Franklin, Mass.) was tabbed the conference's Faceoff Specialist of the Week.

Against Wagner, Schlicker had a career day, causing a career-best five turnovers while collecting a ground ball and scoring the first goal of his career. His highlight play from the contest came midway through the second quarter with the game tied at 3-3, as the junior forced a turnover on the defensive end before grabbing the ground ball and racing down the field, firing a shot past the keeper to give his team the 4-3 lead.

Alexander, meanwhile, continued his strong start to the season at the X, winning 18 of 23 faceoff opportunities, good for a .782 win percentage, surpassing his previous career single-game best of 17 wins. Not only did he tie a personal-best with 12 ground balls, but he also earned his second-ever assist on the team's second goal of the day.

The weekly awards mark the first of the season for both Schlicker and Alexander. The River Hawks are back in action next Tuesday, March 3, when they visit the Massachusetts Minutemen.
