LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell men's soccer team celebrated the program's history with their 2026 Alumni Day on Saturday, October 24.
"It was a special night to celebrate the 50th," said Head Coach Kyle Zenoni. "I got to see and meet so many alumni, and it made the night so special. Thank you to all the alumni that came!"
Over 130 alums, friends and family attended the event that included a tailgate prior to the game with live music and speeches from Zenoni, Director of Athletics Lynn Coutts, and former Head Coach Ted Priestly (1997-2008).
"Celebrating 50 years of UMass Lowell men's soccer is about so much more than the game itself – it's about the friendships, memories, and lifelong connections that make this program so special," added Priestly. "Having everyone back together, representing generations of River Hawks, is a powerful reminder that while our playing days may end, the bonds that we build and the pride that we share will last forever. It was so rewarding to see how happy everyone was."
After the game, all of the attendees were invited down on to the field for a group photo, and to talk with the current team.
"I always loved coaching soccer because it was a conditioning sport," commented Billy Riley, the program's first coach. "I've got some great memories and friends as a result of it. It's a great sport, and I'm glad to be a part of it. We've got a great coach here now, he's the guy that's got the ability to win and reach the lofty goals of the university."
