Shawn Simmons II and
Xavier Spencer both turned in career-best performances at Columbia, as Simmons II totaled 14 points and Spencer boasted 12 points and 12 assists for his first career double-double.

The River Hawks have been strong from the foul line to open the new season, posting a 73.1 free throw percentage as a team, ranking fifth in the conference.
