No. 12 River Hawks pick up road win at New Hampshire, 3-2

Sam Knoblauch, Colin O'Neill and Anthony Baxter all scored in the win for the River Hawks

DURHAM, N.H. -- The No. 12 UMass Lowell Hockey team earned a 3-2 victory at New Hampshire on Saturday night at the Whittemore Center in Hockey East play.

The River Hawks improve their record to 17-10-6 overall (11-7-5 HEA), while the Wildcats drop to 15-14-3 overall and 9-11-2 in Hockey East play. UMass Lowell currently sits in second place in the Hockey East standings with 27 total points.

"We are thrilled to get some points here tonight in a hostile environment," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "I thought it was a good hockey game, I thought it was back and forth, we allowed a power play goal on a broken play here in the third period and that gave them a lot of life. From then on it was nip and tuck."

Senior goalie Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) stopped 26 shots in his 17th win of the season for the River Hawks, while UNH's Mike Robinson made 17 saves in the losing effort.

Patrick Grasso added a late goal for the Wildcats to make it 3-2 on the power play with 5:14 left in regulation.

Senior blueliner Anthony Baxter (Oakville, Ont.) added another goal on the wrister from the high slot to make it a 3-1 UMass Lowell lead just 5:26 into the third period.

UNH got on the board with Angus Crookshank's 14th goal of the year to cut the UMass Lowell lead to 2-1.

Senior forward Colin O'Neill (Odenton, Md.) scored on a penalty shot goal to give the River Hawks a 2-0 lead just 23 seconds into the third period, as he hesitated and then beat Robinson in the top left corner of the cage with a wrist shot.

Sophomore Sam Knoblauch (Rochester, Mich.) got the River Hawks on the board in the second period on a power play goal for his third goal of the season and his second goal in the last two games.

The teams skated to a scoreless first period with UNH owning a 15-6 shot advantage.

UMass Lowell returns to action for the regular-season finale on Friday, March 6th vs. UConn. Game time on Senior Night from the Tsongas Center is 7:15 p.m. The game will be streamed nationally and internationally via CBS All-Access.
