AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) registered a career-high 45 saves for the No. 14 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team in the 5-3 loss at No. 8 Massachusetts on Saturday night in Hockey East play at the Tsongas Center.

The River Hawks fall to 16-10-5 overall (10-7-4 HEA), while the Minutement improve to 19-10-2 overall (12-7-2 HEA) after the victory.

Wall registered 17 saves in the second and third periods in the losing effort for the River Hawks.

"We didn't have a bad start, but we got caught killing four penalties in a row and it took a lot of juice out of us," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin

Colin O'Neill (Odenton, Md.) tied the game at 3-3 at 8:21 of the third period for his fifth tally of the year. Jon McDonald (Livonia, Mich.) scored a power play marker just 24 seconds into the third stanza to cut the River Hawks deficit to one goal at 3-2.

Chase Blackmun (Hudson, Wis.) opened the scoring in the game with a wrister from the high slot midway through the opening frame for his fifth tally of the year.

The River Hawks' penalty kill was a perfect 5-for-5 on the night.

UMass' Matt Murray made 17 saves in his 11th win of season for UMass. John Leonard registered a hat trick and a game-high 11 shots on goal.
