River Hawks fall to Binghamton, 9-7 in season finale on Senior Night

Dylan Rhatigan scored a game-high four goals in the losing effort for the River Hawks

LOWELL, Mass. -- Junior attackman Dylan Rhatigan (Holbrook, N.Y.) tied a career-high with four goals for the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team in the 9-7 loss to Binghamton in the season finale on Saturday night in America East play at Cushing Field Complex.

The River Hawks drop to 5-9 overall (2-4 AE) to finish the season, while Binghamton ends their season at 2-11 overall (2-4 AE) with the victory.

UMass Lowell made a late push with three answered goals to end the game by Liam McDonough (Groton, Mass.), Cory Highfield (Georgetown, Ont.) and Kyle LaForge (Tyngsboro, Mass.), but it wasn't enough to force overtime.

The game was delayed at the start of the third quarter for almost an hour due to lightning strikes in the area.

UMass Lowell trailed 6-3 against Binghamton at halftime.

Rhatigan had a hat trick in the first quarter alone as the River Hawks got out to an early 3-1 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

Senior goalie Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) stopped nine shots in his final start of his River Hawk career, while Binghamton's Kevin Carbone totaled nine saves in the win for the Bearcats.

The game marked the final collegiate contest for Highfield, Lardieri, Will Russo, Cliff Kurker, Ryan Morrison, Gage Sevigny, Haydn Matarazzo, Wesley Harrington, Ryder Lessing and Blaine McMahon.

UMass Lowell outshot Binghamton, 43-31 for the game, which included a 16-4 advantage in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Winkoff and Griffin Konen paced the Binghamton offense with four and three goals, respectively.
