QUEENS, N.Y. -- Junior attackman
Isaac Bot (Calgary, Alta.) scored a career-high five goals to pace the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team in a 15-13 loss at St. John's on Saturday afternoon at DaSilva Memorial Field in non-conference action.
The River Hawks fall to 3-6 overall on the year, while the Red Storm improve to 4-4 overall with the victory.
"I was really proud of our effort today," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Ed Stephenson. "We are looking forward to getting back to America East play on Saturday vs. Vermont."
St. John's scored seven straight goals from the mid point of the third quarter through six minutes of the fourth quarter before Bot scored his fifth of the day to pull the River Hawks to within a goal at 13-12 with 8:33 to play in the contest.
The River Hawks got three straight goals to start the third quarter from Bot,
Brandon Beland (Granite Bay, Calif.) and
Domenic Giachello (Somers, Conn.) to take the 11-6 lead. Giachello and
William Russo (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) notched two goals apiece in the loss for the River Hawks.
UMass Lowell held an 8-6 lead at halftime.
Senior
Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) totaled 14 saves in the losing effort for UMass Lowell, while Brody Agres recorded four saves in the victory for the Red Storm.
Freshman face-off midfielder
Liam McDonough (Groton, Mass.) amassed eight ground balls and won 14 of 28 (50%) face-offs for the River Hawks.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, March 30th against Vermont in America East play. Game time from Cushing Field Complex is 7 p.m.
