River Hawks tie up series with 6-4 victory vs. BU in Game 2

Senior forward Ryan Dmowski totaled three points (2g,1a) in the victory for the River Hawks

LOWELL, Mass. --
Senior forward Ryan Dmowski (East Lyme, Conn.) recorded three points (2g,1a) to lead the No. 4 seeded UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 6-4 victory against No. 5 seed Boston University to tied up the Hockey East quarterfinal series at 1-1 in Game 2 on Saturday night at the Tsongas Center. 

The River Hawks improve to 19-12-5 overall, while the Terriers fall to 15-17-4 with the loss.

"It's a good two points for us, we had our backs up against the wall and we live to fight another day tomorrow," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin.

Senior forward Nick Master (Broomall, Pa.) scored his sixth goal of the season just one minute into the third period to give the River Hawks a 6-4 lead. Master won a team-high 14 face-offs for UMass Lowell.

The Terriers came back with four goals in the second period on goals by Patrick Curry (PP), Cam Crotty (EX), and two goals Joel Farabee, which included one power play and one shorthanded goal. Dmowski and Stefanson added goals in the second period to give the River Hawks a 5-4 lead at the end of the 2nd period. Dmowski finished the game with a team-high five shots on goal.

The River Hawks stormed out to a 3-0 lead in the opening period on power play goals by Chase Blackmun (Hudson, Wis.) and Dmowski, along with an even strength tally by Kenny Hausinger for his 12th tally of the season.

UMass Lowell went 3-for-5 on the power play in the game. 

Junior defenseman Mattias Goransson (Slottsbron, Sweden) notched two assists for the River Hawks.

Junior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) managed 27 saves in his 11th win of the season for the River Hawks, which included 11 stops in the first period and 10 saves in the second. BU's Jake Oettinger registered 19 saves in the losing effort. 

The River Hawks return to action on Sunday, March 17th in the deciding game three against Boston University. Game time is 4 p.m from the Tsongas Center.
