BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Senior goaltender
Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) totaled another career-high 40-save effort in as many games to pace the No. 17 ranked UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 2-1 road victory at Vermont in Hockey East play on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

The River Hawks improved their record to 5-2-2 overall (2-0-1 HEA), while the Catamounts fall to 1-4-0 overall (0-2-0 HEA).

"You have to be happy when you get Hockey East points," said UMass Lowell Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "Overall, I thought the guys bent a little, but never broke. I thought our goaltending was excellent. A lot of positives, but a lot of places we can get better."
Dallas Comeau got the Catamounts on the board just 3:33 into the third period with his second career goal to cut the River Hawks lead to 2-1.

Carl Berglund (Hammaro, Sweden) batted the puck out of the air on the right side of the UVM crease for his fourth career goal to give the River Hawks a 2-0 lead with just 1:48 left in the middle stanza on the power play. Berglund finished the game with two points (1g,1a).

Zach Kaiser (Orangeville, Ont.) got the River Hawks on the board first in the game with 13:30 to go in the second period with his third career tally for UMass Lowell. Kaiser collected a rebound and beat Stefanos Lekkas via his left pad.Â

The teams skated to a scoreless first period with Vermont owning a 12-9 shot advantage.

Matt Brown (Wood Ridge, N.J.) finished the night with two assists to move his season point total to 11, which leads the UMass Lowell roster. Sophomore forward
Austin O'Rourke (Canton, Ga.), Brown and Kaiser all posted a team-high four shots on goal for the River Hawks in the victory.

Wall amassed 12 saves in the each of the first two periods and notched a game-high 16 saves in the final frame, while his counterpart Lekkas registered 22 saves in the losing effort for Vermont.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Saturday, November 2nd at Vermont in the series finale. Game time from Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vt. is 7 p.m. The game will be streamed via CBS All-Access.
