DULUTH, Minn. – The UMass Lowell Hockey team fell in the series finale at No. 1 Minnesota Duluth, 2-1 on Saturday night at AMSOIL Arena.

UMass Lowell drops to 3-1-0, while the Bulldogs improve to 1-1-0.

"I though it was a well played hockey game, I thought both teams had their chances," said UMass Lowell Head Coach Norm Bazin. "We got the equalizer, but that didn't last for long, they got the go ahead goal and it stuck. Tyler (Wall) was real solid, I thought he was very good again tonight."

Minnesota Duluth struck back just 90 seconds later on a goal by Nick Swaney to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead with 15:02 to play in the third stanza.

Freshman forward Andre Lee (Karlstad, Sweden) evened the game at 1-1 off a rebound for the River Hawks just 3:27 into the third period.

The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first with a second-period shorthanded tally by Justin Richards with 14:38 to go in the middle stanza.

The River Hawks and Bulldogs skated to a scoreless first period for the second consecutive night. UMD owned a 9-6 shot advantage in the opening stanza. UMass Lowell had a 5x3 in the first period for 1:20, but could not capitalize on the two-man advantage.

Kenny Hausinger (Anchorage, Alaska) and Chase Blackmun (Hudson, Wis.) each tallied a team-high four shots on goal for UMass Lowell. Freshman forward Carl Berglund (Hammaro, Sweden) won a team-high 11 face-offs in the game for the River Hawks.

Senior goaltender Tyler Wall (Leamington, Ont.) amassed 36 saves in the loss for the River Hawks, while UMD's Hunter Shepard recorded 22 stops in the win for Minnesota Duluth.

The River Hawks were a perfect 6-for-6 on the penalty kill on the night.

UMass Lowell returns to action on Homecoming Weekend with a two-game series against ECAC foe Colgate beginning on Friday, October 18th at the Tsongas Center (7:15pm).
