DES MOINES, Iowa -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets against host Drake on Saturday afternoon at the Knapp Center. The set scores were 22-25, 13-25 16-25.
The River Hawks drop to 1-9 overall with the loss, while the Bulldogs improve to a perfect 9-0 overall on the season.
Junior outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) finished with a match-high 12 kills, to go along with nine digs in the losing effort for the River Hawks. Senior middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) chipped in with four kills and four total blocks. Adeniyi was the lone River Hawk named to the Drake Invitational All-Tournament Team for her efforts in the three matches in Des Moines. She finished with 20 kills and eight total blocks on the weekend for UMass Lowell.Â

Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) managed a team-best 12 digs in another strong defensive effort. Sophomore setter
Malia Randolph (McDonough, Ga.) also added eight digs.Â
The River Hawks had a team-best 12 kills in the opening frame. UMass Lowell led most of the first half of the opening set, but couldn't hold on against Drake. The opening set was very close as there were 14 tie scores and four lead changes.
Cathryn Cheek posted team-high 11 kills in the victory for the Bulldogs.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, September 14th at Boston College in the opening match of the New England Challenge. Match time from Power Gym in Chestnut Hill, Mass. is 6 p.m. The match with be televised live on ACC Network Extra.
