Biography
AS A FRESHMAN (2018): Malia played in nearly all of the 26 matches for the 2018 season, playing in 25 of those matches and 86 sets. Malia had a season-high of 13 kills vs. Albany on Oct. 12. Malia accumulated a total of 116 kills in her rookie year with UMass Lowell, giving her a rank of fourth highest kills on the team. Malia ranks second with 384 assists, ranks second with 191 digs, and ranks fourth with 32 blocks on the River Hawk team. She finishes her rookie season with a career-high of 28 assists vs. Farleigh Dickinson and 23 digs, also vs. Farleigh Dickinson.
BEFORE UMASS LOWELL: Randolph transferred from Hofstra University, where she never played a match for the Pride. She was a three-sport athlete at Eagles Landing High School (volleyball, basketball, track). Played club volleyball for Tsunami for head coach Dun Hahn. Rand served as the team captain in her senior volleyball season and was named the Henry County Female Academic Athlete of the Year for volleyball in that same season. She was an All-State Honorable Mention selection in her senior year and was a three All-Area honoree (senior, junior, sophomore). Her high school team earned a spot in the Final Four in the state playoffs in her sophomore and junior seasons. She was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and was also a member of the National High School Mathematics Honor Society.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Melba and Mark Randolph. Her nickname is “Mal”. Has an older sister Marissa. Her cousin Jonathan Whipple played basketball at Kennesaw State (2006-2010). Her hobbies include reading, playing guitar, watching superhero movies/shows and riding rollercoasters. Randolph’s favorite TV shows are Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Archer and Scandal. Her favorite professional sports team is the Atlanta Falcons. Her favorite sports figure and influence is Serena Williams. Randolph’s favorite sports moment was competing in the Final Four in the state playoffs in 10th grade with her sister.
