DURHAM, N.H. -- Junior outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) amassed a team-high seven kills for the UMass Lowell Volleyball team in its straight sets loss at New Hampshire in the America East opener on Friday night at Lundholm Gymnasium. The set scores were 14-25, 17-25 and 11-25.
UMass Lowell drops to 1-13 overall (0-1 AE) with the loss, while UNH improves to 5-10 overall (1-0 AE).Â
Bell also added six digs and two service aces in the losing effort. Freshman outside hitter
Kate Bilyeu (Omaha, Neb.) also chipped in with four kills, while senior libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) registered a team-high 10 digs in another strong defensive performance for the River Hawks.
"Unfortunately we did not perform the way we wanted to tonight, but we will watch film from this match and make sure we learn and grow from it," said Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "We are confident that we can make some adjustments and execute better. We are excited for next weekend and thrilled to play at home in front of our fans for the first time."
The River Hawks posted a team-best nine kills in the second frame and held UNH to only 10 kills in the opening set with a .074 hitting percentage.Â
Maddie Wiedenfeld posted a match-high 11 kills to go along with a ,556 hitting percentage in the victory for the Wildcats.
UMass Lowell, who just finished a 14-match road trip to start the season, returns to action on Friday, September 28th against Stony Brook for its home opener. Match time from Costello Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
