Biography
AS A JUNIOR (2018): She played in 13 matches and 44 sets throughout her junior year campaign. Clayubaugh recorded a season-high of 17 kills at Hartford on Oct. 26 and 17 digs at Binghamton on Nov. 4. Claybaugh ranked fifth on the River Hawk 2018 team by upholding 87 kills. Her 95.5 average points secures another fifth rank on the team. She noted 10+ kills in four contests over the course of the season.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017): She led the River Hawks with a career-high 272 kills and 3.2 kills per set in 25 matches and 85 sets in her second season with UMass Lowell. She posted a career-high 231 digs and her 2.72 digs per set ranked second on the team, while her 18 service aces also ranked second on the River Hawks' roster. Claybaugh registered 10+ kills in 12 matches in 2017 and she recorded a season-high 21 kills and a career-high 16 digs on September 30th at UAlbany. She notched 10+ digs in nine contests over the course of the season. Her 3.24 kills per set in conference play and 3.2 kills per were both fourth among America East players. Claybaugh was selected to the America East All-Academic Team for the first time in her career for her efforts on the court and in the classroom.
AS A FRESHMAN (2016): Claybaugh played and started in 20 matches in her freshman season, appearing in 76 total sets. Her 211 kills was third best on the River Hawks' roster, to go along with a team best 2.78 kills per set. She also recorded 203 digs, 20 service aces and 17 total blocks. Her 2.78 kills per set ranked eighth among America East players and third among AE rookies. Posted 10+ kills on nine occasions and 20+ kills twice, which included a career-high 23 kills vs. Fairleigh Dickinson on September 9th. Claybaugh registered 10+ digs 10 times and had a career-high 21 digs on November 6th vs. Sacred Heart. Was named America East Rookie of the Week twice on August 30th and September 6th. Claybaugh was named to the San Jose State Invitational and Crusader Classic All-Tournament teams for her oustanding play the first two weekends.
HIGHLIGHTS: Four-year varsity player and three-year captain at San Ramon Valley High School … three-time All-East Bay First-Team (sophomore, junior, senior year) … set program record of 2,000 + kills senior year … Danville Rotary Club Outstanding Female Athlete Award in her senior year … MaxPreps.com’s All-America Sophomore Player of the Year … four consecutive open bids to Junior Nationals with the Red Rock 18 Black Club Team and a 10th place finish in 2016.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Daniel and Carolyn Claybaugh … has two older siblings (Sean and Lauren) … sister played volleyball for Georgia Southern … lists Person of Interest, Orange is the New Black, Friends and Game of Thrones as her favorite TV shows … favorite influences and sports figures include her sister Lauren, Mia Hamm, and Serena Williams … enjoys art, politics, social justice issues, hiking and art outside of athletics … chose UMass Lowell for “the Boston area and the opportunity to move back to the east coast after growing up in New Jersey” … hopes to become a human rights lawyer after UMass Lowell.
