Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) notched a team-high seven kills as the UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell to Stony Brook in straight sets in the homer opener on Friday night at Costello Athletic Center. The set scores were 10-25, 11-25 and 17-25.
The River Hawks drop to 1-14 overall (0-2 AE) on the season, while the Seawolves improve to 8-8 overall (2-0 AE) with the victory.
"It's not how I wanted to come out tonight, but I am excited at least at the end they showed a little bit of fight that we were looking for in the beginning," said Head Coach

Bell also added seven digs in the losing effort for the River Hawks, while senior middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) added five kills and a team-best .500 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle blocker
Grace Burkett (Lakeside, Calif.) also recorded five kills, while senior libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) totaled a team-high 11 digs on the defense for the River Hawks.Â
UMass Lowell turned it on late in set three with four straight points to make it 24-17, which included two service aces by junior setter
McKenna Bova (Corona, Calif.) and a kill by Burkett.
The River Hawks registered a team-best 13 kills in the final frame.Â
UMass Lowell returns to action on Sunday, September 30th against Hartford in America East play. Match time from Costello Athletic Center is 1 p.m.
