LOWELL, Mass. – Twenty members of the UMass Lowell Hockey team have been named to the 2017-18 Hockey East All-Academic Team which was announced Thursday morning by the conference office.
UMass Lowell had the second largest number of players honored by the eleven school conference. The 20 student-athletes also reflects an increase from 19 a year ago and 13 in 2015-16.
"We have dedicated young men who exemplify what it is to be student athletes in college," said Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "This serves as further proof that someone can strive for excellence on the ice and in the classroom."
The River Hawk hockey team also earned the university's Bob Griffin Academic Award with the highest grade point average, 3.496, among men's teams.

Jake Kamrass (Atlanta, Ga.) was honored as a distinguished scholar after earning All-Academic status in all four of his varsity seasons.

The 20 are part of a group of 144 student-athletes who achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two academic periods during the past season. Only one school, Merrimack, placed more players on the All-Academic Team.
