BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell to Maryland-Eastern Shore in its opening match of the Terrier Invitational on Friday afternoon at the Genovesi Center. The set scores were 25-17, 19-25, 23-25 and 20-25.Â
The River Hawks drop to 1-3 overall with the loss, while the Hawks improve to a 3-2 record on the season.Â
Sophomore outside hitter
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) and junior outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) each tallied a team-high 11 kills apiece in the losing effort for UMass Lowell.Â
UMass Lowell opened the match with 11 kills and a .214 hitting percentage in its set one victory and then posted 14 kills in the final frame (Set 4).Â
Junior setter
Delaney Mendez (Phoenix, Ariz.) totaled 37 assists running the River Hawk offense. Junior co-captain
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Il.) managed 18 digs in another stellar defensive performance.
Junior middle blocker
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) chipped in with five kills and six total blocks (3s,3a), while sophomore outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) finished the night with six kills and nine digs. Freshman middle blocker
Ariel Dulaney (Bay Minette, Ala.) also added five kills in the match.Â
The River Hawks wrap up play at the Terrier Invitational on Saturday, September 2nd with a 2pm match against NJIT and a 7pm match against Saint Peter's at the Genovesi Center.Â
