LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team will conclude the 2017 season with a weekend trip to No. 4 Stony Brook. The River Hawks will square off against the Seawolves on Saturday April 29, at 1 p.m.
 
Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell enters Saturday's contest at 7-8 overall after picking up their first conference win in program history to improve to 1-4 in America East action this spring. The River Hawks split a pair of decision last week, falling at Brown, 12-6, on April 19, before snubbing Vermont, 14-8, on April 23.
 
Leading The Flock
Through 15 games so far this season, attacker Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) is boasting team bests in points (33) and assists (17), while teammate Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) is tallying a team-high 23 goals. Defenseman Megan Albertsen (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) is pacing the squad with 22 caused turnovers, while midfielder Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) ranks first on the team with 20 draw controls. So far this spring, nine River Hawks have recorded points, all of whom have found the back of the net at least once thus far. Between the pipes, Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) has racked up 147 saves, while boasting a .460 save percentage and a 10.34 goals against average, while recording a team-best 38 ground balls.
 
Scouting Stony Brook
The Seawolves, who are currently 14-1 overall and 5-0 in America East games, are looking to build on their nine-game win streak with a pair of games this week. Stony Brook will first travel to instate-foe Hofstra on April 2, before entertaining UMass Lowell on April 29. Kylie Ohlmiller leads the nation in points and assists with 112 and 58, respectively, while her 54 goals are first among the team. Brooke Gubitosi is posting team highs with 32 ground balls and 39 caused turnovers. Goalkeeper Anna Tesoriero is posting a 7.27 goals against average, a .505 save percentage, while making 11 saves on the year.
 
Atop The America East
Ashley Horan (Methuen, Mass.) ranks third in the league with 1.57 caused turnovers per game, while Megan Albertsen sits fifth with 1.38. Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett is currently second in the America East in goals against average (10.08), third in save percentage (.466) and saves per game (8.46), while ranking fifth among the conference in ground balls per game (2.29).
 
Twenty Fun
Rebecca Idson set a new program record of 23 goals in a single season, becoming the first River Hawk to eclipse the 20-goal mark at UMBC on April 1.
 
Sharing is Caring
With 12 helpers in the squad's 13-6 victory at Army West Point, UMass Lowell established a new program record. Junior Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) led seven River Hawks with three assists, while classmate Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.), sophomore Jane Dudley and freshman Hana Caster (North Attleboro, Mass.) all contributed with a career-high two hand outs apiece.
 
A Couple Two, Tree Records
On March 8, sophomore Rebecca Idson rattled off six goals for six points to achieved two program records against Army West Point. The 13-6 win at Army West Point registers the program's first road win and biggest margin of victory since its inaugural season in 2015. Freshman Hana Caster matched the record with six goals for six points her self, in the squad's 14-8 victory against Vermont.
 
Going Streaking!
The River Hawks put together a six-game win streak from March 4 to March 29, marking the longest in program history. UMass Lowell posted four of their six wins at home against non-conference opponents Iona, Quinnipiac, LIU Brooklyn and Bryant.
 
Marching Forward
The River Hawks were perfect in the month of March, posting a 6-0 record. UMass Lowell outscored their opponents 65-42 in March, helping the team to their longest win streak in program history.
 
Receiving Recognition
Midfielder Hana Caster was named America East Rookie of the Week (4.24) after notching nine goals for nine points in a 1-1 week for the River Hawks. The freshman matched single game program best in points and goals with six against Vermont in UMass Lowell's first ever conference win. Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett garnered her first career Defensive Player of the Week award on March 13. The junior led the River Hawks to their first ever road win after posting five saves and allowing a career-low six tallies in a 13-6 win at Army West Point. The Black Knights were held scoreless in the first half, as Barrett recorded the program's first, first half shutout. Midfielder Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) picked up her first career America East player of the week nod on March 6, following a career-high five points (1g, 4a) in the squad's, 11-6, win against Iona.
