Five River Hawks Named to America East All-Conference Teams

BOSTON – Following the conclusion of the 2026 season, the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team had five River Hawks earn All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference on Thursday morning.

Capping off her senior year, Grace Lydon (Rowley, Mass.) was named to the America East All-Conference Second Team, while redshirt freshman Chiara Pompei (Catonsville, Md.) and freshman Brienne Brezynskie (Elmira, Ontario) earned spots on the All-Rookie Team, and juniors Claire Fader (Downingtown, Pa.) and Brownyn Hilbert (Lancaster, Pa.) were selected to the All-Academic Team.

"I'm happy that these five were recognized by the conference," said Head Coach Lisa Miller. "As engineering majors, Bronwyn and Claire are the epitome of ideal student-athletes. They represent the University and the lacrosse program well on the field, in the classroom, and as teammates. Bri and Chiara were moved into big roles this spring and embraced the challenge. Grace played everywhere, she was on the draw circle, defense, and attack. She has always been a good player; this year she was great. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Macy, who, after recovering from ACL surgery, led our team in scoring, was sixth in the conference in goals per conference game, fifth in points per game, and fourth in assists. Macy, along with Grace, led the team in every way with their fight, determination, mental toughness, and competitive nature. They knew we were up against it competitively because of the rash of season ending injuries and never stopped competing. They put the team in a better position culturally for 2027."

In her final season, Lydon was dominant on both ends of the field, finishing the season with a team-leading 26 goals alongside 13 assists for 39 points, while adding 15 ground balls, eight caused turnovers, and 35 draw controls. Although she posted ten multi-point games, her best performance of the season came against New Hampshire when she scored four straight second-half goals, propelling the team to an important conference win.

In her first season on the field, Pompei proved to be a key piece of the UMass Lowell offense, scoring 19 goals, the fifth most on the team, including the overtime game-winner against UMBC. Beyond her ability to find the back of the net, the Maryland native added two assists, six ground balls, and two caused turnovers to her stat line.

Brezynskie, meanwhile, wasted no time making her name known, scoring a hat trick in the season opener, earning her America East Rookie of the Week honors. She didn't slow down there, though, finishing her freshman campaign with 14 goals, nine assists, 16 ground balls, nine caused turnovers, and 27 draw controls, including a career-best five points against New Hampshire to earn her second Rookie of the Week honor.

Fader, who was named to the All-Academic Team for the first time in her career, owns a 3.96 GPA as a mechanical engineering major. On the field, the junior helped anchor the River Hawks' defense this season, starting in 15 of the team's 16 games while adding 14 ground balls and ranking fourth on the team with 11 caused turnovers.

Rounding out the honorees, Hilbert holds a 3.96 GPA as an electrical engineering major, earning her spot on the All-Academic Team. This season, the junior broke out on the field, ranking second on the team with 40 points and smashing her previous career high of 9 points during her freshman campaign. Not only an offensive threat, she also added 15 ground balls collected and eight caused turnovers.
