River Hawks Visit Brown, Host Vermont on Senior Day

LOWELL, Mass. –
The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team is set for a pair of games this weekend. The squad will travel to Brown on Wednesday, April 19 for a 7 p.m. non-conference tilt, before welcoming Vermont in an America East Senior Day match up on Sunday, April 23 at 1 p.m.
 
Special Recognition
Sunday's game will be special for the River Hawks, as the team will celebrate Senior Day. Prior to the game against Vermont, senior Kristy Robertson (Kingston, N.H.) will be recognized in a special ceremony.
 
Looking at UMass Lowell
UMass Lowell (6-7, 0-4 AE) is looking to snap a five-game losing streak on Wednesday, when the squad visits Ivy League foe Brown in a non-conference match up. The River Hawks recently dropped a pair of road decisions last week, falling at Harvard, 17-6, on April 11, before being snubbed 12-6 at Binghamton on April 15.
 
Leading The Flock
Through 13 games so far this season, attacker Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) is boasting team bests in points (28) and assists (16), while classmate Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) is tallying a team-high 22 goals. Defenseman Ashley Horan (Methuen, Mass.) and midfielder Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H) are pacing the squad with 20 caused turnovers apiece, while Keith also ranks first on the team with 19 draw controls. So far this spring, nine River Hawks have recorded points, all of whom have found the back of the net at least once thus far. Between the pipes, Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) has racked up 106 saves, while boasting a .455 save percentage and a 10.39 goals against average, while recording a team-best 34 ground balls.
 
Scouting Brown
The Bear, who are currently 4-8 overall and 0-5 in Ivy League games, are looking to snap a three-game skid. Mostly recently, Brown was defeated in a pair of conference tilts, falling at Cornell, 11-8, and Harvard, 19-12, last week. Hafsa Moinuddin is first on the team with 35 points and 10 assists, while her 25 tallies rank second best on the squad. Carolyn Paletta has helped lead the offense with a team-high 26 points and 39 draw controls. Goalkeeper Mikaela Karlsson owns the majority of the decisions for the squad, posting a 3-5 record, while turning away 74 shots and recording a .536 save percentage.
 
Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts currently sit at 1-13, 0-4 AE, in in the 2016 season, after dropping their lone decision last week to No. 4 Stony Brook, 20-6, on April 14. Alison Bolt is headlining the squad in points (40), goals (26), free position goals (10) and caused turnovers (23). In net, goalkeeper Maddy Kurus owns a 1-10 record, a .306 save percentage and a 14.00 goals against average so far this spring.
 
Atop The America East
Ashley Horan and Kristina Keith rank third in the league with 1.50 caused turnovers per game. Goalkeeper Courtney Barrett is currently second among the conference in ground balls per game (2.58) and save percentage (.470), third in goals against average (9.92) and saves per game (8.42).
 
Twenty Fun
Rebecca Idson set a new program record of 20 goals in a single season, becoming the first River Hawk to eclipse the 20-goal mark at UMBC on April 1.
 
Sharing is Caring
With 12 helpers in the squad's 13-6 victory at Army West Point, UMass Lowell established a new program record. Junior Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) led seven River Hawks with three assists, while classmate Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.), sophomore Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman Hana Caster (North Attleboro, Mass.) all contributed with a career-high two hand outs apiece.
 
A Couple Two, Tree Records
On March 8, Rebecca Idson rattled off six goals for six points to achieved two program records against Army West Point. The 13-6 win at Army West Point registers the program's first road win and biggest margin of victory since its inaugural season in 2015.
 
Going Streaking!
The River Hawks put together a six-game win streak from March 4 to March 29, marking the longest in program history. UMass Lowell posted four of their six wins at home against non-conference opponents Iona, Quinnipiac, LIU Brooklyn and Bryant.
