MANCHESTER, N.H. – In a gritty overtime battle that was tied for over 38 minutes the No.4 UMass Lowell hockey team (27-11-3, 14-7-1 HEA) eventually succumbed to No. 12 Notre Dame in a 3-2 heartbreaker in the NCAA Northeast Regional Final on Sunday afternoon.
Â
This River Hawk senior class will round out its impressive career with 99 wins, as they become the second winningest class in Division I history at UMass Lowell.
Â
"I would like to congratulate Notre Dame on making it to the Frozen Four," said Head Coach
Norm Bazin. "This one stings as I felt this team in the locker room was good enough to be the best team at the end of the year. It was a good hockey game, it was constantly back and forth. If I had to change anything, I felt we went into a bit of a lull with seven minutes to go and played a little too much defense hockey. When we aren't attacking, we aren't at our best and that was the difference in the hockey game.
