FAIRFIELD, Conn. –
The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team (3-2) tripped up Sacred Heart (2-4), 10-8, for its third consecutive win of the season Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the River Hawks begin their longest win streak in program history, beginning on March 5 against Iona.

Junior attackers Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.) and Kaylan DiModugno (Deer Park, N.Y.) notched a game-high three goals a piece. The hat trick marked a career high for Trasatti who is posting six goals so far this year.

The two squads traded goals through out the first half, fighting to a 3-3 stalemate with five minutes remaining. Sophomore attack Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) got the River Hawks on the board first at 24:18 to even the score 1-1, before DiModugno gave the squad their first lead of the game, 2-1, with a tally at 21:44. The Pioneers soon followed up with back-to-back goals, but was halted by sophomore attack Paige MacEachern (Lynnfield, Mass.) who notched her second goal of season for the 3-3 tie.

With 2:24 remaining junior attack Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) gave her squad a last minute edge with an unassisted goal for the 5-4 advantage entering halftime. The River Hawks out shot the Pioneers 10-5 in the first half, while the two teams each won four draw controls.

Sacred Heart outscored UMass Lowell, 2-1, in the first five minutes of the second half to tie the contest once again at 5-5.

UMass Lowell's offensive found their groove in the remainder of the second half, putting together a 5-0 run to provide themselves with a five goal cushion. DiMudugno kicked things off with her second goal of the game to give her squad the 6-5 advantage. Thanks to additional goals by Trasatti and sophomore midfielder Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.), the River Hawks glided to a 10-5 lead with nine minutes remaining.

The Pioneers would fight hard and eventually get three tallies back, but the River Hawks' lead was too strong as the team secured the 10-8 victory.

Junior goalkeeper Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Vt.) collected six saves in the contest and a team-best five groundballs, while sophomore midfielder Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) caused a team-high four turnovers.

UMass Lowell is back in action on Wednesday, March 22 as the team will welcome Quinnipiac for a 3 p.m. tilt.
