Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) tallied three goals as the UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team notched its fourth straight win with a 9-5 victory against Quinnipiac, on Wednesday afternoon, to mark the program's longest win streak.

Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) each posted a game-high three points a piece in the contest. The River Hawks went on to produced six different point scorers in the win, five of which found the back of the net at least once.

"I am really happy for our team, I thought this was a great example of where we are at in our heart and our hustle," said Head Coach
Carissa Medeiros. "To play consistent in these conditions on a day like today with all these intangibles you have to be mentally tough. You have to work together as a team, you have to have each others backs and I thought we did that. Overall, a lot of different kids stepped up today."

The River Hawks jumped out to an early 4-0 lead thanks to goals by DiModugno, Sokol and Dudley in the opening nine minutes of the tilt. Sokol netted two of her three scores during UMass Lowell's four-goal run, while Dudley added an assist during the run.

Quinnipiac's Bianca Kaluta broke the silence with her lone goal of the contest at 14:14 to make it a 1-0 game. With three quick goals, the Bobcats evened the score 4-4 with 8:05 remaining.

The River Hawks rounded out the first half scoring with goals from DiModugno and Sokol at 7:21 and 6:15, respectively, to provide the squad with a 6-4 edge. UMass Lowell went seven-for-eleven on draw controls, while carrying a heavy 13-6 shot advantage after 20 minutes of play.

Kristina Keith (East Kingston, N.H.) extended the home team's lead to 7-4 with a quick tally just two minutes into the second half, before classmate
Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y.) tacked on her first goal of the contest with a bullet into the back of the net, giving the River Hawks a four-goal margin, 8-4.

Quinnipiac 's lone goal of the second half came with 8:22 remaining on an unassisted goal following a UMass Lowell turnover. The River Hawks were able to equalize the damage, thanks to a late goal by Idson to give the home team their final 9-5 victory. Â

UMass Lowell's defense proved resilient as the team caused a collective 11 turnovers and picked up 18 groundballs. Additionally, the squad's 11 draw controls marked a season high in 2017.

The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, March 25. UMass Lowell will look to keep their win streak alive as they welcome LIU Brooklyn to Wicked Blue Field for a 6 p.m. contest.
