LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's lacrosse team is hitting the road in its lone contest of the week. The River Hawks are set to challenge Sacred Heart on Saturday, March 18 at 3 p.m.
River Hawk Rewind
UMass Lowell recently improved to 2-2, following a dominating 13-6 road win at Army West Point on March 8. Offensively, the River Hawks were led by sophomore
Rebecca Idson (East Atlantic Beach, N.Y) who tallied a career- and program-high six points on six goals, propelling the squad their first road win in program history. UMass Lowell recorded eight different point scorers in the bout, six of which found the back of the net at least once, while the team dished out a program best 12 helpers in the tilt.
Leading The Flock
So far this season, sophomores
Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) and
Kendyl Finelli (Southborough, Mass.) are pacing the team with 12 points apiece. Classmate
Rebecca Idson is boasting a team-best 11 goals, while Finelli's seven assists ranks first among all players. Sophomore
Kristina Keith's (East Kingston, N.Y.) is leading the squad in groundballs (10), draw controls (7) and caused turnovers (9), while notching five points (4g, 1a) on the year. Between the pipes, junior
Courtney Barrett (South Burlington, Mass.) has denied 38 shots, while boasting a .521 goals against average and an 8.75 goals against average.
Scouting Sacred Heart
The Pioneers are off to a 2-3 start after dropping a pair of decisions last week. Sacred Heart fell to instate foe Quinnipiac, 14-13, on March 1, before being downed at Iona, 15-10, on March 11. Caitlin Delaney is notching a team-high 18 points and 9 assists from the frontline, while Alyssa Pearce is trailing closely behind, tallying 13 goals. The Pioneers have produced 11 different point scorers, all of whom have found the back of the net at least once thus far.
Goalkeeper Paige Hammick has turned away 51 shots, while posting a .429 save percentage and a 13.54 goals against average.
Series History
Saturday's contest marks the third meeting between the two squads in the sport of women's lacrosse. The Pioneers currently lead the all-time series, 2-0, after a 2016 meeting at Wicked Blue Field.

With 12 helpers in the squad's 13-6 victory at Army West Point, UMass Lowell established a new program record. Junior
Taylor Sokol (Hopkinton, Mass.) led seven River Hawks with three assists, while classmate
Austin Trasatti (Doylestown, Pa.), sophomore
Jane Dudley (Duxbury, Mass.) and freshman
Hana Caster (North Attleboro) all contributed with a career-high two hand outs a piece.

On March 8, sophomore
Rebecca Idson rattled off six goals for six points to achieved two program records against Army West Point. The 13-6 win at Army West Point registers the program's first road win and biggest margin of victory since its inaugural season in 2015.
