LOWELL, Mass. -- Junior attackman Sean Tyrrell (Calgary, Alta.) notched a game-high four points (3g,1a) for the UMass Lowell Men's Lacrosse team in Tuesday afternoon's 8-7 loss to Fairfield at Cushing Field Complex in non-conference action.

The River Hawks fall to 1-3 overall with the loss, while the Stags improve to 2-2 overall on the season.

Junior Jon Phillips (Delta, B.C.) chipped in with three points (1g,2a) in the losing effort for the River Hawks, while Austin Lane (Aurora, Ont.) finished the day with two goals.

The teams went to the locker room tied 5-5 at halftime. UMass Lowell jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game on goals by Lane and Sam Klingsporn (Aloha, Ore.)

Sophomore Grant Lardieri (Ada, Mich.) made 16 stops in his fourth start of the season for the River Hawks, while Brad Nordstrom stopped 10 shots in the victory.

Freshman Cam Hult (Nashua, N.H.) led the River Hawks with a team-high six groundballs.

Dylan Beckwith totaled a team-high three points (2g,1a) for the Stags in the win.

UMass Lowell returns to action for its first road contest of the season on Saturday, March 4th at Monmouth. Game time from Monmouth Stadium is 1 p.m.
