DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore forward Ryan Lohin (Chadds Ford, Pa.) scored two goals to lead the UMass Lowell Hockey team to a 2-1 victory at No. 8 New Hampshire on Friday night in Hockey East play at the Whittemore Center.

The River Hawks improve to 5-6-0 (2-5-0 HEA) with the victory and the Wildcats drop to 6-2-1 overall (3-1-1 HEA) with the loss.

"We are excited to get two Hockey East points," said Head Coach Norm Bazin. "They haven't come easy for us this year and playing against a great opponent, it was a tight game all the way through. Fortunately for us we got the last one."

Lohin scored the go-ahead goal with 3:45 left in the game for his fourth marker of the season to seal the win for the River Hawks. Sophomore forward Colin O'Neill (Odenton, Md.) assisted on both of Lohin's goals in the River Hawks' first league road win of the season.

UNH's Ara Nazarian scored his fourth goal of season to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead, but Lohin answered the bell just 25 seconds later to knot the game at 1-1. Lohin and senior captain Tyler Mueller (Regina, Sask.) each finished the night with a game-high five shots on goal.

The team skated to a scoreless first period with the Wildcats holding a 7-6 shot advantage.

UMass Lowell outshot UNH, 28-20 for the game, including a 22-13 edge in the final two periods.

Junior goaltender Christoffer Hernberg (Espoo, Finland) made 19 saves in his ninth career start for the River Hawks, which included his fifth win of the season. UNH's Danny Tirone totaled 26 stops in the losing effort.

Freshman forward Connor Sodergren (Tewksbury, Mass.) finished the night winning 8-for-9 face offs (89%) for the River Hawks.

The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, November 11th vs. No. 13 Northeastern. Game time from the Tsongas Center is 7 p.m.
