LOWELL, Mass. –  The UMass Lowell women's soccer team continues America East play, as the squad suits up for a 7 p.m. home clash against Maine on Thursday, September 29,  before lacing up their cleats for a 1 p.m. match at Vermont on Sunday, October 2.
 
Looking at UMass Lowell
The River Hawks (3-4-2, 1-0-0 AE) recently snapped a three game skid last week, knocking off 2015 America East Champion UAlbany, 1-0, on Sept. 25. Junior Rachel Morrier (Plaistow, N.H.) paces the club in points and goals, tallying five and two, respectively, in addition to tacking on an assist. Through nine game so far this season, UMass Lowell has produced seven different point scorers, five of who have found the back of the net at least once this fall. Sophomore goalkeeper Julia Schneider (Bridgewater, Mass.) owns the majority of decisions in the net thus far, starting seven of the team's nine games and compiling a 2-4-1 record, while boasting a 1.01 goals against average, a 0.841 save percentage and 37 saves.
 
Scouting Maine
The Black Bears enter Thursday's contest 5-3-0 overall and 1-0-0 in America East action, after topping conference foe Vermont, 1-0, on Sept. 25, in their lone match of the week. Forwards Kaitlyn Ball and Theresa Gosch are headlining the squad, posting six and five points, respectively, with two goals apiece. Ball also leads the team in assists (2), while four additional Black Bears have added a helper as well. Goalkeeper Annalena Kriebisch has started seven of eight games in net, owning a 4-3-0 overall record, while posting a 0.71 goals against average.
 
Scouting Vermont
The Catamounts (5-4-1, 0-1-0 AE) are looking to snap a two-game road skid after dropping a pair of decisions last week. Vermont fell in a close 1-0 game to Dartmouth on Sept. 20, before being edged, 1-0, by Maine in the club's conference opener on Sept. 25. Forward Julia Smith is first on the team with five goals for 10 points, while teammates Catie Green and Savana Yurick sit second on the team, notching two goals and one assist for five points apiece. Coco Speckmaier has earned every decision in net, recording a 1.07 goals against average, a .823 save percentage, 52 saves and three shutouts.
 
Newcomer Notables
Sophomore transfer Jaymee Luke (Las Vegas, Nev.) netted her first tally of the season after scoring the game-winner for the River Hawks, defeating UAlbany, 1-0, on Sept. 25. Freshman forward Maddie Cheney (Bow, N.H.) added her first point as a River Hawk with an assist against Stetson on August 26. Freshman goalkeeper Lauren Huff (Brandon, Fla.) picked up her first career-win and shutout with a 1-0 victory against Bryant on Sept. 12 after tallying six saves in the outing.
