BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Maddie Guthrie (Stow, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell women's soccer team has earned a spot to compete in the 2025 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl, taking place on Sunday, December 7 at 11 a.m. at East Boston Memorial Field. The Senior Bowl showcases the top senior Division I collegiate athletes from across New England.

Guthrie performed at a consistently high level throughout the season, as the midfielder led the team with a personal-best four assists, and ranked second in the America East for assists. She also registered a team-high 1385 minutes played after appearing in all 17 contests for UMass Lowell this season. On August 18, the senior was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week, after an outstanding performance in the season opener. She tallied a new UMass Lowell Division I record for most assists in a game with three against Stony Brook on August 14, 2025. Guthrie finished her career as a River Hawk with 64 games played, and 42 starts, totaling five assists for five points in 3623 minutes of action.

Following the regular season, Guthrie was named to the 2025 America East All-Academic Team with a 3.89 GPA as an applied biomedical science major. The senior was also recently selected to her second consecutive College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team and is a three-time America East Commissioner's Honor Roll selection (2022, 2023, 2024).

Guthrie joins seven former River Hawks who have been selected to the NEWISA Senior Bowl since 2010. The most recent UMass Lowell players to participate in the Senior Bowl include Julia Edholm (2023), Emily Nelson (2021), and Dunja Mostarac (2021).
