SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters Saturday's match with a 5-9 overall record after an 0-4 week with losses to Northeastern, SIU-Edwardsville, Bowling Green and Illinois-Chicago. The match on Saturday marks the America East opener for both teams.
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) led the River Hawks with 28 kills in four matches last week, while libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) tallied 50 digs in another strong defensive week. Freshman
Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) continues to lead the team with 121 kills, while Shimon is gaining ground with the second most on the River Hawks' roster with 119 kills.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS: Hartford enters the weekend with a 3-10 overall mark, they have lost five straight matches heading into Saturday night's America East opener. The match is the first of a three-match conference road trip for the Hawks. Paulina Modestow leads the team with 156 kills on the year. Jenna Bridges and Katy Henchy has also had totaled 100 kills so far this season.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. HARTFORD: The River Hawks are 1-5 all-time vs. the Hawks, which included a split of the season series last year. The win against Hartford was UMass Lowell's lone America East conference victory on October 9th, a 3-2 win at Hartford. The Hawks were victorious in their most recent meeting, a 3-0 win on November 8th at Costello Athletic Center.
TEAM IMPACT NIGHT: The River Hawk Volleyball program will honor Team IMPACT match Amayah Brown in a pre-match ceremony on Saturday night. Brown is a 7-year old from Chelmsford, Mass. and officially joined the team on "Draft Day" on February 9, 2016.
AMERICA EAST LEADERS: Freshman outside hitter
Katherine Claybaugh's (Danville, Calif.) 3.72 kills per set in second best in the league, while her .223 hitting percentage ranks 10th among AE players. Visvardis' 0.40 service aces per game is third best in the conference and her 3.86 digs per set is fourth highest. Senior middle blocker
