River Hawks host UNH on Sunday in America East action

SCOUTING THE RIVER HAWKS: UMass Lowell enters Sunday's America East match with a 5-13 overall mark and an 0-3 record in America East play. Three of the last five matches have gone five sets for UMass Lowell, while they have played six five-set matches overall and have a 2-4 record. The River Hawks own a 1-2 record so far this season in three matches at Costello Athletic Center.

Sophomore outside hitter Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) now leads team with 164 kills and her 2.38 kills per set ranks second on the team. Sophomore setter Delaney Mendez's (Phoenix, Ariz.) 407 assists are a team best, while sophomore libero Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) leads the River Hawks with 274 digs and 24 service aces.

Senior middle blocker Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.) has amassed 63 to date to lead the UMass Lowell roster. UMass Lowell third as a team in America East with 1.77 blocks per set, while they rank fourth in service aces at 1.38 per frame.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: UNH comes into Sunday's tilt with a 10-8 overall record and a 3-0 marker in America East matches. The Wildcats are 4-1 in their last five matches, which includes a 3-1 win at Hartford on Friday night. Sophomore middle blocker Gabri Olhava tallied a match-high 17 kills in the victory against the Hawks, while Keelin Severtson recorded 55 assists and Demi Muses totaled 20 digs.  

LAST TIME OUT: The River Hawks fell at Bryant on Wednesday night, 3-2, at Chace Athletic Center. Haley Shimon registered a match-high 14 kills, while Madi Bell (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) had 10 kills and 11 digs.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. UNH: The River Hawks are 0-6 all-time vs. the Wildcats since joining America East. UNH took both matches last year, by 3-0 scores, which included the last meeting on Nov. 6th at Costello Athletic Center.

AMERICA EAST LEADERS: Freshman Katherine Claybaugh (Danville, Calif.) ranks third among America East hitters with 3.36 kills per set. Lindsey Visvardis ranks fourth in the league with 3.97 digs per set and her 0.35 service aces per set is fifth best among AE servers. Lauren Bennett's 1.00 blocks per set in tied for third most in the conference.
