Box Score Box Score (PDF)BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The UMass Lowell men's soccer team lost its second straight game, as a two-goal second half sealed a 3-0 win for St. Francis Brooklyn, in the teams' opening game of the Astroturf Brooklyn Bridge Cup, Friday night.
"The performance was good at times, and while it is early in the season, we need to find a way to remain consistent throughout the full 90 minutes," said Head Coach
Christian Figueroa. "We had some good individual performances, but we understand that it is the team performance that will lead to results."
St. Francis' (1-0-1)Â Vincent Bezecourt gave the hosts the lone goal in the first half with his strike from the top of the 18-yard box in the 23rd minute.
Eric Martin (Danvers, Mass.) almost tied the score for the River Hakws (1-2) in the 65th minute but his header went wide of the post. In the 84th minute,
Chase Reichenberg (Hamburg, Germany) had his point blank shot saved by Jack Binks.
In the 71st minute Adrian Cosovic put home a cross from Yussuf Olijide, and Sal Barone added a free kick goal in the 88th minute.
The Terriers outshot UMass Lowell 8-5, but both teams had three shots on goal. The River Hawks did hold a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
The River Hawks will take on the LIU Blackbirds to wrap up the Brooklyn Bridge Cup on Sept. 6 at 1 p.m.
