LOWELL, Mass. – Senior Calvin Scholten (Hengelo, Netherlands) of the UMass Lowell men's soccer team has signed a professional contract with Sportvereniging Excelsior '31, a professional club located in the Netherlands, as announced by the club on Friday morning.

"I'm extremely proud of Calvin for signing a professional contract," said Head Coach Kyle Zenoni. "He has put in the work every day, and it's rewarding to see a player come into our program with professional ambitions and make them a reality."

Scholten, a three-year member at UMass Lowell, made 41 appearances for the River Hawks, including ten starts, during his career. The Netherlands native made his impact right away, recording a career-high three assists during the 2023 campaign.  As a junior, he continued to find new levels of success, finishing with two goals and six points, including his first career goal at Saint Peter's, before playing a key role in helping the team earn its first playoff berth since 2019 during his senior season.
