FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The UMass Lowell volleyball team fell 3-0 at Sacred Heart on Saturday night at the William H. Pitt Center. The set scores were 13-25, 22-25 and 12-25.
With the loss the River Hawks drop to 2-13 overall on the season, while the Pioneers improved to a 6-6 mark.
"I have to give Sacred Heart a lot of credit for coming out aggressive and playing hard," said Head Coach
Resa Provanzano. "Unfortunately we struggled with execution and consistency tonight. On a positive note, we were able to pick up our serve receive as the match progressed. We will get into the gym and work hard to come out better prepared on Tuesday night at home."
Freshman outside hitter
Haley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) led uMass Lowell with six kills, while freshman
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) chipped in with four kills and four blocks in the losing effort. Shimon and junior middle blocker
Lauren Bennett (Wilmington, Mass.) each totaled three blocks for the River Hawks.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Tuesday, September 29th with a home match against Bryant. Match time is 7 p.m. on Blue Out Night at Costello Athletic Center.
