LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell women's volleyball team was defeated after dropping straight sets to top ranked conference opponent Albany on Friday, November 13 at Costello Athletic Center. The set scores were 19-25, 13-25 and 18-25.
 
With the loss, the River Hawks fall to 4-24, 1-10 AE, on the season as the Great Danes improve to 16-8, 11-1 AE. UMass Lowell
 
Graduate student Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) tallied a team-best 11 kills on the night while freshman outside hitter Hayley Shimon (Des Moines, Iowa) slammed nine kills on 27 swings to record a .259 hitting percentage. Piloting the UMass Lowell offense was freshman setter Delaney Mendez (Pheonix, Ariz.), dishing out 29 assists, two digs and one block assist throughout the three matches.
 
Defensively, freshman libero Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glenn, Ill.) posted 13 digs, to lead the team. Sophomore defensive specialist Malorie McIver (Austin, Texas.) landed 10 digs in the losing effort for the River Hawks.
 
UMass Lowell returns to action on Sunday, Nov. 15 against Binghamton at 1 p.m. on Senior Day. The River Hawks will honor lone senior Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) in a special pregame ceremony.
