(.PDF)BALTIMORE -- The UMass Lowell Volleyball team fell in straight sets at UMBC in America East play on Sunday afternoon. The set scores were 10-25, 24-26 and 20-25.
With the loss, the River Hawks fall to 4-21 overall and 1-7 in America East matches and the Retrievers even their record to 11-11 (5-3 AE).
Freshman outside hitter
Erica Cappellino (Penfield, N.Y.) tallied a career-high nine kills in the match for the River Hawks to go along with a .389 hitting percentage and five digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Masha Yelsukova (Santa Clara, Calif.) registered a season-high five kills, while
Lade Adeniyi (Springfield, Ill.) and
Rachel Arnason (Kelowna, B.C.) each added four kills in the losing effort.
Freshman setter
Delaney Mendez (Phoenix, Ariz.) amassed 24 assists running the River Hawks' offense and freshman libero
Lindsey Visvardis (Homer Glen, Ill.) turned in another solid defensive effort with 13 digs.
The River Hawks recorded 13 kills in the second set and 10 in the final frame to go along with a .233 hitting percentage.
UMass Lowell returns to action on Friday, November 6th vs. New Hampshire. Match time at Costello Athletic Center is 7 p.m.
