LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell athletic department announced the addition of
Ja'Marcus Hampton as the department's associate athletic director for advancement on Thursday. Hampton joins the department following two years as the director of advancement for athletics at Radford University.
"We are very excited to welcome
Ja'Marcus Hampton into the River Hawk family to lead our fundraising efforts for the department, as we continue to embark on this transition into Division I athletics," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Operations
Scott Dolch. "He has demonstrated successful growth both in Division I athletic fundraising at Radford University, as well as his central development work at Ohio State University, and we feel these well-rounded experiences will offer UMass Lowell the winning combination of attributes needed to take us into the next era of excellence."
During his tenure at Radford, Hampton developed strategies to identify and cultivate donors for current and deferred gifts of $25,000 and above. He managed a portfolio of 125 prospects that he would meet with to communicate specific athletic needs and present meaningful support opportunities. In addition, Hampton spearheaded a six-year athletic advancement plan, focusing on increasing alumni participation and support, and led a campaign to renovate the basketball locker rooms and baseball/softball complex.
"I am truly humbled to be part of the River Hawk family," said Hampton. "The vision and plan for UMass Lowell is very exciting and promising. I look forward to the opportunity of meeting and collaborating with our coaches, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of River Hawk nation. Together we will help further the advancement of UMass Lowell athletics."
Prior to working at Radford, Hampton spent time as the director of development at The Ohio State University's College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. He was promoted to that position after serving as the assistant director of development in the university's College of Veterinary Medicine from 2008-10.
The Sandusky, Ohio native began his professional career at the University of Akron as an assistant director of marketing.
Hampton received a bachelor's degree in technology management and a master's of business administration from the University of Findlay. He also holds a master's of recreation and sports management from Indiana State University.
