LOWELL, Mass. – Director of Multimedia & Production Grant Weiller has announced the recent promotion of Alex Chun to Assistant Director of Multimedia & Production.
"Alex has been a pleasure to work with and this promotion is very well deserved," said Weiller. "His creativity and passion have elevated our social content and broadcasts since joining the team. We're thrilled to see him continue growing in this new role."
So far at UMass Lowell, Chun had the opportunity to boost his experience working as a Multimedia Assistant, beginning in December of 2024. His responsibilities included helping direct over 120 broadcasts of home River Hawk events on NESN, ESPN+, and AmericaEast.tv. In addition to his production work, Chun has also worked to develop creative content for River Hawk social media platforms, such as media day content, game and player highlights, hype videos and more.
"I am honored to accept this next step into my professional journey and continue to refine both my creative and broadcast skillsets to highlight our incredible athletics programs," said Chun. "I appreciate the openness and willingness of student-athletes to engage in the bolder media ideas we have, and I'm excited for what's to come. Special thanks to the UMass Lowell Athletic Communications, External Relations and Marketing and Promotions staffs for entrusting me with this position."
Prior to coming to Lowell, Chun worked for FOX Sports as a production and on-air talent development intern where he experienced working with all phases of production. One highlight of his time in that role was implementing an original project that aimed at enhancing the viewership for new and existing NASCAR viewers.
As a student at Pomona-Pitzer, Chun served as a director, producer and play-by-play announcer. He helped manage the live streaming of all 21 Division III varsity sports, including tracking stats, operating cameras, developing social content and creating on-screen graphics.
Chun also previously worked on the production side with the Duluth Huskies, as a live video production director. He oversaw a crew of camera operators, broadcasters and graphic directors over 36 games, earning an audience of 1.3 million fans on ESPN+ and Northwoods League Network.
Chun earned his bachelor's degree in arts, media studies from Pomona-Pitzer College in 2024.
