LOWELL, Mass. – The UMass Lowell athletic department announced on Tuesday that athletics donations grew to more than $537,000 in the past year, a new record for The River Hawk Club.
Â
The total amount raised reflects a 32 percent jump in donations from the previous year. The River Hawk Club, which is the fundraising arm of UMass Lowell Athletics consists of an all-time high of 1,623 members, which is a six percent increase from the 2012-13. The overall fundraising number includes all annual gifts to the athletic department, which includes sport specific gifts.Â
Â
"The record number of gifts is reflective of the excitement surrounding the University's elevation to Division I," said Director of Athletics
Dana Skinner. "We believe that the future growth of UMass Lowell is important not only to our students and alumni, but to the entire region as well. We are grateful that so many members of the University and community are supporting our efforts to provide a high-quality experience for our student-athletes."
Â
Every gift to the River Hawk Club significantly enhances academic and athletic opportunities for our student-athletes by providing scholarship assistance, improving athletic facilities, increasing operating budgets and enhancing our student-athlete development programs.
