Austin Kroll (Baltimore, Md.) had a strong performance in net, but it wasn't enough as the UMass Lowell men's soccer team fell 2-0 to Seton Hall on Sunday at Owen T. Carroll Field.

The River Hawks and Pirates battled in a physical contest that featured 28 fouls and four yellow cards. The team falls to 0-2 in the first weekend of action following a loss Friday night at Monmouth.

The teams ended the first half at a scoreless draw with Kroll stopping three shots by the Pirates. It wasn't until the games 50
th minute that one got past the freshman keeper as SHU senior Bolu Akinyode placed the ball in the lower right corner following a deflection.

The Pirates added an insurance goal in the 73
rd minute when Victor Manosalvas was taken down in the box and granted a penalty kick that he put in the upper left corner.

Senior forward
Homero Morais (Somerville, Mass.) led the team with three shots, while
Wuilito Fernandes (Praia, Cape Verde),
Guilherme Rodrigues (Lowell, Mass.), and
Carlos Ruiz (East Boston, Mass.) each fired two.

Kroll finished the match with six saves.

Next for the River Hawks will be St. Francis College who the team plays on September 5 as part of the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney Windjammer Classic.
